River Friends Invited to Ride the Rails with SCRA

St. Croix Falls, Wis. – The St. Croix River Association will host members, volunteers, and friends for a seasonal scenic rail tour of the St. Croix Valley on October 8, 2015.

The public, SCRA members and volunteers are invited to travel together on the St. Croix Valley Railway from Osceola to Marine on a special train ride to take in the changing season along the river. The event will offer delicious box dinners from the Watershed Café, kid-friendly activities with a National Park Service Ranger. Kids will earn a Junior Ranger badge!

The St. Croix River Association and the National Park Service are grateful for the work done by our members and volunteers to protect, restore, and celebrate the St. Croix River. The event is a small token of gratitude for those that continue to give of their time and talent to the river.

The 2015 SCRA Photo Contest received over 100 submissions in 4 categories: Landscape, People, Wildlife and Close-up for both youths and adults. Renowned professional photographer Gary Alan Nelson was the judge for this annual contest, now in its fifth year. Winners of the contest will be awarded prizes at this event.

River Friends Ride the Rails will include a two-hour trip from Osceola, WI to Marine. Tickets included box dinner are $35 for adults and $20 for youth ages 3-12. Other ticket options are available for those who do not wish to have dinner. Proceeds support the St. Croix River Association’s mission to protect, restore and celebrate the river we all love.

The St. Croix River Association works to protect, restore and celebrate the St. Croix River and its watershed. With an approach based on partnerships, the organization is working to realize a vision for the St. Croix as a place where rivers run free and clean, a diverse habitat sustains our unique and diverse flora and fauna, people have access to our National Park and the park flourishes, towns throughout the basin thrive, and people celebrate the river.
